Webinar: How Big Deals Get Done

Getting Big Deals Done. Getting big deals done is almost always… | by Jay Turo | Medium

This Friday, October 9th, for the 9th episode of “Building in Africa”, we are interviewing Isis Nyong’o Madison, CEO of BlissGroup, a pan-African omnichannel e-commerce and community platform for parenting content and baby care products

BlissGroup was formed in July this year from a merger between MumsVillage Kenya, which Isis founded in 2015 and BabyBliss Nigeria. The company seeks to tap into the Baby Care product market in Kenya, Nigeria, and eventually the rest of Africa.

Prior to starting MumsVillage, Isis had held leadership roles in Google, Viacom, InMobi, to name a few, and has garnered many years of experience in the world of media and technology.

In this session, she will answer questions including:

What has been the journey of Bliss Group over the last few years?
What kick-started talks about the merger; how did it proceed?
What were the biggest challenges to making the deal happen; were there any last-minute surprises?
Are there any nuances regarding the merger given the startups are in two different regions?
What major lessons were learned in doing the deal that founders and executives will find useful?

Attendees will also be able to ask her burning questions in an interactive session. The event is open to experienced and aspiring entrepreneurs as well as everyone else who is playing in the African technology industry.

“Entrepreneurs have to learn the power of networking and the value of mentorship, as these are the things that most entrepreneurs take for granted. And also they must know that opportunities will not come to them; they have to go out there and create them by knocking on corporate doors with proposals. Personally, I am where I am because of a business mentor who changed the way I see things.”

– Anda Maqanda, founder of AM Group in South Africa
