From Pepperest to Peppa.io: New Name, Same Quality

The start-up formerly known as Pepperest has rebranded to Peppa.io, with effect from Feb. 1, 2023. It also recently became a Techstars-backed company.

Founded in 2020 by Banky Alao (CEO), Emmanuel Obute(CTO) and Bridget Yadua-Soremekun(COO), Pepperest’s mission is aimed at making commerce work for everyone, especially small business owners.

The three-year company provides tools and enablement that drive increased sales and satisfaction for buyers and sellers in emerging markets. It is creating a space where millions of small business owners can easily grow their online business while offering payment protection to buyers and sellers to ensure a safe space for social commerce to thrive.

Peppa.io also delivers an all-in-one commerce store to social sellers. This ensures increased purchases from buyers through embedded escrow and available instalment payment features.

Speaking on the rebranding, Chisom Amadi, Peppa’s partnerships & business development manager, stated: “The new name better suits our branding and positioning as we continue to grow as a company. . .this name change does not affect any existing documentation, partnerships or contracts that we have undertaken in the past or are currently engaged in, as they all remain valid.

Last year, Peppa.io was part of GetFundedAfrica’s Oct/November Legacy Cohort and it also joined 11 other start-ups in the inaugural class of the ARM Labs Lagos Techstars Accelerator programme.

The company has assured clients and the public alike that the evolution to Peppa.io will continue its tradition of exceptional service provided under the Pepperest name. It also looks forward to deepening relationships and performing greater feats with its partners as Peppa.io.

Peppa.io takes its place among many other start-ups which rebranded to properly reflect their missions, positioning and business plans such as TeamApt to Moniepoint; Plentywaka to Treepz; Piggybank to PiggyVest; and Kudi to Nomba, to mention just a few.
