About DeepEcho

DeepEcho is a Moroccan AI medical imaging startup founded in April 2020 by Youssef Bouyakhf and Abdelhak Mahmoudi that is building an intelligent ultrasound to aid in diagnosing, detecting, and preventing prenatal complications. With the support of a high-performance Deep Learning algorithm software, the healthcare startup is on a mission to minimize infant and maternal death rates caused by ultrasound diagnosis mistakes.

Meet Youssef Bouyakhf (Co-Founder and CEO)

What inspired you to create this company? What was the extra push?

“Working on improving prenatal care is an important challenge with a huge impact, it is part of MDG 4 (Millennium Development Goals).”

What do you wish you knew before starting your entrepreneurial journey?

“I wish I knew how important a strong network was.”

What are the key successes as a founder?

“Vision and empathy.”

What were the challenges you have faced as an African founder? How did you overcome them?

“The lack of visibility and sometimes credibility as an African DeepTech company. We overcame them by bringing the right investors on board and working with blue chip companies and partners.”

Can you share your top tips for entrepreneurial success?

“It is a long and difficult road, so be passionate about your venture so you can enjoy the hard work you will put and the success it will bring.”

Fun fact about you?

“The first venture I started was with my Dad, as we did a spin-off of his AI Lab.”
