The Beauty West Africa Exhibition 2022: A Gathering of Beauty & Wellness Enthusiasts

This year’s edition of the Beauty West Africa Exhibition came to an end today, having run since Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022.

It was the fourth in the series.

The Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, played host to over 200 exhibitors (both local and international) joined by visitors who formed the huge turnout the event recorded.

According to Jamie Hill, managing director of BtoB Events Ltd and organizers of the exhibition, speaking on the opening day: ‘We have a record number of exhibitors this year, over 200, and I’m proud to say we have a record number of Nigerian exhibitors here too as we are trying to do our best to promote the ‘Made in Nigeria’ brand and promote exports from Nigeria to other ECOWAS states.’

He also stated that the event was officially the largest professional beauty exhibition across the African continent, causing this year’s showcase to expand over the three halls of the Landmark Centre for the first time in order to accommodate everyone–exhibitors and visitors.

BtoB Events is a dynamic exhibition organizer, having established itself in the international exhibition space. While they are the proud owners of Beauty West Africa (Africa’s largest beauty trade fair), they are also responsible for other industry fairs in the region such as the food and beverage, and automotive trade shows.

Last year, the beauty industry in Nigeria was valued at a little over a trillion naira. It is a huge industry that keeps going from strength to strength. And bringing the exhibition to Lagos, Nigeria was one way to support that growth, and provide opportunities for buyers and sellers to interact, network, and exchange ideas.

The exhibition boasted almost all facets of the beauty and wellness industry. From facial products to skincare items. From luxury hair extensions to sweet-smelling perfumes. From make-up artists to spa owners. From nail experts to skin beauticians. From the recognized brands to the up-and-coming ones. The exhibition was replete with all of them.

Additionally, the event featured sponsored content, presentations, conferences, and product shows. For instance, a deputy director of NAFDAC (the regulatory agency for food and drug administration & control in Nigeria) addressed a sensitive topic: ‘The Dangerous Trend of Skin Bleaching’; while industry experts engaged one another and the audience in panels to debate and proffer solutions to several issues causing conflicts in the beauty business for founders, international brands and related stakeholders.

Speakers’ roll call

Some of the industry experts who spoke at the event included Ezinne Alfa, founder, BeautyInLagos, and curator of the conference program; Banke Meshida Lawal, CEO, BMProMakeup Nigeria; Dr. Vivian Oputa, Aesthetic Physician & Founder, Derma Care; Mrs. Awogboro, Founder, The Nail Studio Ltd; Emilomon Marshal, Regional Manager (Nigeria & Ghana), L’Oréal Luxe Brands; Ijeoma Balogun, CEO/Founder, Redrick PR; and Beatrice Eneh, CEO/Founder, Nectar Beauty Hub amongst others.
