Alexander Woods Moves to British International Investment

Alexander Woods has joined British International Investment as an investor desk associate, to support the collaboration and mobilization of capital with institutional investors across Africa, South Asia and Global Climate Finance.

Formerly CDC Group, British International Investment is UK’s development finance institution and impact investor backed by the UK Government. It is a trusted investment partner to businesses in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean with more than 70 years’ experience. It will invest between £1.5 and £2 billion per year in green infrastructure, technology and other sectors to support people and create more productive, sustainable and inclusive economies, enabling people to build better lives for themselves and their communities. It currently partners with over 1,000 businesses, working with its investees to help them succeed and grow impactful businesses.

Prior to this position, Alexander spent three impactful years at Invest Africa in two different roles: first as partnership and events manager for a year and six months, then in the position of membership and partnership manager for a year and 11 months.

Invest Africa is a leading pan-African business platform promoting trade and investment in Africa. It is a membership organisation for companies and investors operating on the African continent, and its network comprises global corporations, private investors, fund managers, family offices, policy makers and entrepreneurs.

Alexander is excited about the new role and looking forward to working for a development finance institution (DFI) that he has long since admired, especially with the start of its new strategy cycle aimed at playing a key role in fighting the climate emergency.

He possesses a Bachelor’s degree in combined honors in Arts, French & Classic from Durham University and a master’s in Sustainable Development & International Policy from the Institute of Development Studies.
