  1. Wicrypt

Wicrypt Network, the first standalone blockchain-based WiFi sharing network from Africa, has secured US$1.5mn in funding. The round is being led by AU21 Capital, with participation from Polygon founder Sandeep Nailwal, Cardano’s Occam, Inclusion Capital, Outlier Ventures, Chain Capital, Pluto Digital Assets, Onega Ventures, N7 Labs, and PolkaFoundary.

2. Sparkle

Nigerian startup Sparkle, a mobile-first digital bank that provides financial, lifestyle and business support services to Nigerians across the world, has raised a US$3.1 million seed funding round to help it invest in infrastructure and scale across the diaspora.

3. Tix.Africa

Tix.Africa, a self-service ticketing platform for event creators in Nigeria, has secured a six-figure pre-seed funding. The funding round was led by HoaQ, with participation from a number of private equity investors, and will enable Tix Africa to build its technology to scale its events apps.

4. Asante

Asante Financial Services Group (“Asante”) announces $7.5 million Series A investment anchored by Goodwell Investments with participation by other investors including Sorenson Impact Foundation and Forsage Holdings.

5. Fair-money

Three months after raising a $42 million Series B fundingFairMoney has secured additional funding to develop new digital banking services in Nigeria.

6. Elmwaka

The Seed round was led by Flat6labs and joined by a Group of Oqal angels from Saudi Arabia after joining 500 Startups (now 500 Global) in Misk’s second batch in 2019.

7. Illa

Launched through the Flat6Labs Cairo accelerator in March 2019, ILLA caters for corporates and SMEs, providing full-fledged transportation and logistics solutions tackling major pain points unique to the FMCG industry. 

8. Sendy

Following a recent funding round, Sendy partnered with Mobility 54 Investment SAS, Toyota Tsusho Corporation and corporate venture capital arm, to acquire a significant stake in the logistics company.

9. Tala

Tala’s total capital now stands at over USD 350 million, thanks to new investors including Kindred Ventures and The J. Safra Group, as well as current investors like IVP, Revolution Growth, Lowercase Capital, and PayPal Ventures.

10. Sao Tome and Principe

( AfDB) – The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund approved on Wednesday in Abidjan, a grant of US $ 10.7 million to São Tomé and Príncipe for the implementation of the first phase of the Zuntámon Initiative, within the framework of the Lusophone Compact.
