Nestlé Commissions Technical Training Facility in Ogun State to Curb Youth Unemployment

Nestlé Nigeria Plc. has commissioned its third technical training facility at its Flowergate Factory in Ogun State to enhance the capabilities, skills and competence of young people in the country towards accelerating industrialisation for economic growth.

The first two facilities are in Agbara, Ogun State, and Abaji in Abuja FCT, which have greatly empowered Nigerian youths who aspire to technical competence to end unemployment in the country.

The trainees will participate in an intensive 18-month programme, which builds their competence in machining, mechanical fitting operations, electrical operations, instrumentation operations and automation, culminating in the prestigious London City and Guilds technical certification examination.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, of Nestlé Nigeria, Mr Wassim Elhusseini, said this intervention is the company’s affirmation of its commitment to help young people build the capabilities and skills they need to contribute towards accelerating industrialisation for economic growth. He said the technical training programme is one of the sustainable pathways through which the company contributes to meeting the technical needs of the industry while enabling young Nigerians to access economic opportunities.

According to him, young people have a key role to play in shaping the future, which is why the company is determined to remain at the forefront of the fight against youth unemployment.
