Egypt’s fashion e-commerce startup, Dress Code, lands $250k from Egypt Ventures

Egypt Ventures has announced a new investment of $250k in the Egypt-based fashion and home décor online retail platform Dress Code, where the company is working to bridge the huge gap in the local market for fashion, accessories, cosmetics, and home décor, by providing affordable products. Learn about different tastes, provide an excellent customer experience, and meet the changing needs of the Egyptian market.

Dress Code helps emerging brands reach a growing customer base and accelerate their growth, and aims to gain a pivotal position in the fashion and accessories industry in Egypt and the Middle East.

This investment helps to increase the growth of the startup and to move forward with its expansion plans, as it plans to expand in the home accessories market, especially furniture, with the aim of re-interesting customers in using local Egyptian cotton.

Dress Code was established in 2019, and the volume of its orders reached about 30,000, and these orders were completed safely and smoothly. The company was also able to increase the number of storage units, or what is known as SKU, from 300 to 600 within a year, 20 times, The platform currently receives more than 5,000 visits per day, and 60% of customers repeat the purchase experience more than once, which means there is a degree of loyalty to the platform, in addition to providing a purchase voucher worth 100 pounds when buying for the first time by the customer’s friends.

The startup demonstrated a successful and flexible business model that helped increase its growth, despite the challenges of the Corona pandemic, as it achieved an increase in sales in 2020, with significant revenue growth per month, and the platform also has workshops for the manufacture of about 75% of its offered products, as well as It operates about 35 local workshops with a staff of 1,400 employees.
