Press Release: GetFundedAfrica onboards mentors to support African startups

Lagos– GetFundedAfrica is pleased to announce the onboarding of its first batch of startup mentors. The onboarding session had mentors from across the globe including China, Singapore, Rwanda, Angola, Ivory Coast and Nigeria. These mentors will be matched with African Startups.

Kemi Komolafe who manages the GetFundedAfrica Mentorship Program said that that Mentorship program is a great initiative that will allow mentors and founders to network from across the global village. At the GFA team we are very excited to be part of the transformation of the African start-up ecosystem.

Africa is steeped high in founders with entrepreneurial and innovative talent. However, there exists a need for development in certain areas of skill, know-how, and refinement, to reduce the existing gaps that may hinder these ventures from fulfilling their potential. A structured and collective approach to these issues, will enhance the Profile and Investor Readiness of African Startups. The Mentorship Program will contribute to the overall African Startup Journey.

The GFA mentorship program provides a structured meeting place where entrepreneurs, inventors and creators can meet business experts to find inspiration. The platform creates the opportunity to network and enjoy vignettes of experience across borders, cultures and industries, while gaining much needed business knowledge that will push founders ahead in their entrepreneurial journey.

The goal of GetFundedAfrica’s Mentorship Program is to match company founders and thier teams from some of the most promising businesses across Africa with seasoned executives who serve as volunteer leadership coaches and pro-bono advisors. This would help African startups scale and strengthen thier companies and also transform the lives of their employees, suppliers and communities. I am very excited that our first mentor cohort contains a diverse group of mentors from Singapore, Rwanda, Ivory Coast, China, United Kingdom, Angola and Nigeria. This diversity adds to the mix of creating African enterprises that become long term engines of change.

  1. Allows mentors to give back to the community
  2. Gives mentors the opportunity to network with other professionals that are not in the same space or continent
  3. Gives mentors more visibility in the African startup ecosystem.
