Nigerian Startups Apply For Startup North East Virtual Incubation Programme

The Startup North-East Virtual Incubation Programme, designed to assist Nigerian entrepreneurs in building their technology-based startup that solves challenges associated with aid distribution and data management in North East Nigeria has opened for applications.

Taking place over four-months, the entrepreneurship programme aims to rebuild the North East Nigerian region by uplifting tech startups that address the existing gaps in aid distribution and data management. 

Successful applicants will be provided with additional support to put their product to market and deploy their applications by government and donor initiatives in the region.

To be considered for the programme, applying startups must focus on one of the following areas; poor data management, insecurity, unqualified personnel, poor data collection, extortion, lack of insight, mishandling of equipment, poor coordination and lack of good communication and lastly, misappropriation of relief materials and funds. 

The applying startups must have created a solution that addresses one of the mentioned above using an innovative solution that can bridge the gap present in data management and aid distribution. 

Benefits of applying

Six startups will each receive a grant that provides business equity-free funding to the value of $3 000. 

Startups will also have the opportunity to network with potential partners as well as interact and learn from business advisors and experts who will act as mentors to the startups applying. 

Requirements to apply

Nigeria-based startups can apply. online. 

  • To qualify startups must be in their idea-stage or early-stage of business 
  • Startups must show potential for future scale 
  • Applicant startups must operate in Nigeria
  • Startups must present a solution relating to the key interests of startups
  • Startups must have a well rounded team to tackle areas of in-house capacity for product vision, technology and profitability. 
  • Founders must have insight and expertise in the landscape of aid distribution and data management.
  • The startups solution must be technology driven

Applications close 2 December 2020. A build phase will take place and then a virtual incubation followed by demo day where startups present their solutions.
